New Delhi, December 16: The 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup is to be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America (USA), with India and Pakistan potentially facing each other in the group stage in pop-up stadiums. In Long Island, New York. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 4-30 and the full schedule is expected to be finalized soon.
Eisenhower Park on Long Island is preparing to host the India-Pakistan match, with a temporary 34,000-seat cricket stadium built to accommodate the large number of people of Indian and Pakistani origin in downtown Manhattan.
While some schedule adjustments may still be in place, England and Australia are scheduled to play all of their group games in the Caribbean, according to The Guardian. England’s matches, in the initial five-team group and, if they qualify, in the Super 8 round, will reportedly take place in British tourist destinations Antigua, Barbados and St Lucia. Australia, on the other hand, will tour various places in the region including St. Vincent, Guyana and Trinidad.

ICC inspectors have been evaluating the Caribbean sites, and although some improvements have been deemed necessary, no significant issues have been identified. Although the venue of the final has not yet been confirmed, Barbados is a likely choice, having previously hosted the finals of the 2007 50-over World Cup and the 2010 T20 competition.
India, the first champion of the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007, has not been able to win the title since then. In the upcoming tournament, the 20 teams will be divided into four groups for the initial round, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Eight stage. Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh along with hosts West Indies and the United States have already qualified. Additionally, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Nepal, Oman, Namibia and Uganda qualified through regional tournaments.
