Mumbai, Oct 10: BCCI has announced that Shubman Gill, a key batsman of the Indian cricket team, will not accompany the team on October 9 in New Delhi. The decision comes after Gill missed the team’s opening match against Australia at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Chennai. Unfortunately, he will also miss the upcoming match against Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11.
Instead, Gill will remain in Chennai and remain under the care of the medical team, as stated by the BCCI. Reports suggest that he is currently battling dengue fever, and the medical team is closely monitoring his condition with hopes of a speedy recovery.
Notably, Gill has been India’s top run-scorer in ODIs this year, scoring 1230 runs at an impressive average of 72.35 and a strike rate of 105.03. In his most recent four ODIs, he scored two centuries and one half-century, the two standout innings of which came against Australia.
