Oct 12 – American Airlines has declared the cancellation of all flights to Israel’s primary international airport until December 4, citing the current operating conditions. The airline typically operates flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, which is situated close to Gaza.
In a statement released late Tuesday, American Airlines emphasized its commitment to safety and security and expressed its intent to collaborate with partner airlines to assist passengers seeking to depart from Tel Aviv.
Additionally, the airline extended its travel alert to offer flexibility for customers affected by these changes.
Delta Air Lines, with routes to Israel from Atlanta, JFK, and Boston, also disclosed the cancellation of its flights for the remainder of October.
The State Department noted its efforts to encourage airlines to resume travel to and from Israel.
As a result of Israel’s declaration of hostilities against Hamas in response to an unprecedented attack on October 7, numerous airlines have either canceled or suspended their flights to Israel.
Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong canceled its Tuesday flight to and from Tel Aviv, while Air Canada suspended all its flights to Israel. Ryanair from Ireland announced flight cancellations to and from Tel Aviv until October 11, citing operational constraints.
Air India and Lufthansa decided to cancel flights until October 14, and Norwegian Air will not operate flights to Israel until October 15.
Korean Air reduced one of its three weekly flights to Tel Aviv on Monday but indicated plans to operate a flight from Tel Aviv to Incheon on Tuesday to repatriate Korean nationals.
