Court hands ‘gag order’ to Trump in $370 million civil fraud case

Former US President Donald Trump was handed a limited ‘gag order’ by the appeals court in a $370 million civil fraud case. Manhattan NY Attorney General Letita James begins her closing arguments as former US President Trump appears in two separate cases in the courts here. The civil fraud suit initially claimed damages of $250 million, but this was later increased to $370 million.

Media reports said that former US President Trump had appealed against the gag order issued by Manhattan Judge Arthur Angoron in the appeals court. The appeals court rejected Trump’s appeal and upheld the gag order.

New York AG Letitia James made arguments against former US President Donald Trump on charges of illegally securing loans, inflating property values to get lower insurance premiums while increasing fines. New York AG Letitia James told Judge Arthur Engoron and jurors in closing arguments against Trump that his case was never about politics or retribution, nor was it about name calling. He had said that current President Joe Biden had started a “political witch hunt” by using Democrat AG James against him. But facts show that even before Joe Biden became President, Democrat AG James had filed a case against Donald Trump.

Whereas Democrat AG James explains this matter about facts and law and says that Donald Trump has violated the law. He thanked the judge, his team and Trump’s lawyers before reiterating his confidence that “justice will be served” in the case.

Describing the law as supreme, he said, “The law is supreme. No matter how rich and powerful you are, no one is above the law.”
