Washington, November 22 (UITV) – US President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for the post of the country’s next Attorney General. This decision has come at a time when Trump’s first choice for this post, Congressman Matt Gaetz, withdrew his nomination due to controversies and political pressure.
Donald Trump praised Pam Bondi in his social media post, saying that she has done a wonderful job as Florida’s first female Attorney General. Bondi took tough action against violent criminals in her 20-year-long prosecution career and played an important role in making Florida’s streets safe.
As Attorney General, she paid special attention to preventing problems such as deadly drug trafficking and fentanyl overdose. Many families were helped due to her efforts. Trump also pointed out that during his first term, he made Pam Bondi a part of the Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission, where she did remarkable work.
Bondi was part of Trump’s legal team during his first impeachment trial in 2020. Trump says his experience and commitment made him a strong candidate for the post. However, he will have to get confirmation from the US Senate before assuming this post.

Initially, Trump’s first choice was Matt Gaetz, who pulled out of the race for the post of Attorney General. Gaetz was accused of having sex with a minor, due to which a controversy started over his nomination. The Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives was investigating the matter and was about to submit its report, but Gaetz withdrew his nomination before that.
Gaetz wrote on the social media platform X, “I had wonderful meetings with senators on November 20 and appreciate their support, but it is clear that my confirmation may hinder the important work of the Trump administration. Therefore, I am withdrawing from this race.”
Trump reacted to Gaetz’s decision and said that he appreciates his efforts. Trump said, “Matt Gaetz showed complete honesty and hard work for this post. However, he did not want to be an obstacle in the work of the administration, which reflects his character. He also said that Gaetz has a bright future and he is excited about his further efforts.
Trump has described the post of Attorney General as very important for his second term. He believes that this post needs an experienced and strong person who can strongly implement the policies of the administration.
