Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Rafah crossing in Gaza and spoke of maintaining Israeli control over the entire Gaza-Egypt border.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel will retain control of the Rafah crossing even after the ceasefire agreement.
On Thursday, Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to commanders in Rafah. It has been occupied by Israeli security forces since May. According to news agency Xinhua, Netanyahu also inspected the Philadelphia Corridor. The Philadelphia Corridor is the border area between Gaza and Egypt.
In a video statement, Netanyahu said, “For the future, it is important that Israel has control over the Philadelphia Corridor and the Rafah Crossing.”
He said that he will go to Washington next week to address the US Congress and there he will tell the whole world about the ongoing war in Gaza and why this war is necessary.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made this statement when an Israeli delegation was in Cairo to negotiate a ceasefire agreement to end the ongoing war in Gaza. A key issue in these talks is control over the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia Corridor.
Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Yoav Galant, said on the cease-fire agreement that Israel would agree to certain conditions under a deal to withdraw from the territory, which would ensure the release of about 120 people still held hostage in Gaza.
