Islamabad, November 25: Pakistan wants to join BRICS. For which Pakistan has made a formal request. This has been confirmed by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.
BRICS is an intergovernmental organization that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. “We have taken the decision to join BRICS after seeing the openness declared by BRICS towards inclusive multilateralism,” Xinhua news agency quoted Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch as saying in a media briefing. ,

He said that Pakistan wants to join BRICS group to advance international cooperation. By becoming a member of this group, Pakistan can play an important role in reviving inclusive multilateralism.
On relations with BRICS members, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan has friendly relations with most of the BRICS members. Apart from this, Pakistan also has good and friendly relations with the new countries which BRICS has invited to become its members.

Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed hope that, “We hope that Pakistan’s request will be taken into account and BRICS will consider this request in line with its commitment to inclusive multilateralism.”
The 15th BRICS summit was scheduled to be held in South Africa in August 2023. In this summit, some new countries have been invited by BRICS to join this group. These countries are United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt, Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.
