Rio de Janeiro, November 19 (UITV)- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron held bilateral talks during the G-20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. During this bilateral talks, detailed discussions were held to strengthen the strategic partnership keeping in mind the goal of further strengthening the relations between India and France till 2047, the centenary year of India’s independence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron recently met during the G-20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. The main objective of this meeting was to further strengthen the relations between India and France till 2047. Both the countries reiterated their commitment to increase cooperation in strategic, economic, cultural and scientific fields under the ‘Horizon 2047 Roadmap’.
After meeting French President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Modi wrote on the social media platform X, “It is always a pleasure to meet my friend President Emmanuel Macron.” He congratulated Macron for successfully hosting the Olympics and Paralympics held earlier this year.
This was the third meeting between Modi and Macron this year. The two leaders also held talks during President Macron’s visit to India as the chief guest of the Republic Day celebrations in January and the G-7 summit in Italy in June. These meetings have further strengthened the growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Macron praised India as an emerging global power under Modi’s leadership. He said that India will play a decisive role on the global stage in the times to come.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed progress in strategic areas. These include defense, space, civil nuclear energy, digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and trade and investment.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that India and France will work together in future areas like space, energy and AI. The two countries are also working together on increasing mutual connectivity and digital public infrastructure.
The leaders of the two countries reviewed the progress of cooperation on India’s National Museum project. Also, President Macron’s initiative to host the upcoming AI Action Summit in France was welcomed.
The Ukraine conflict and the situation in the Middle East were also discussed in depth. The two leaders reiterated their commitment to cooperate to ensure stability in the Indo-Pacific region and strengthen the multilateral system.
This partnership between France and India is not limited to bilateral relations only. It is also important for cooperation on multilateral forums and ensuring global stability. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the two leaders resolved to work together to create a stable international system and improve multilateral forums.
India and France’s relations have deepened and broadened in the last few years. An attempt is being made to give a new direction to these relations through the ‘Horizon 2047 Roadmap’. It is clear from this partnership of Prime Minister Modi and President Macron that both countries are committed to face global challenges together in the coming decades and create a stable, prosperous future.
