New UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has formed his cabinet. The new cabinet appoints Rachel Reeves, 45, as the country’s first female Chancellor of the Exchequer. He started his career in banking sector. Apart from this, Angela Rayner has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister. Angela Rayner has also been given the role of Minister for Equality, Housing and Communities.

Keir Starmer’s cabinet includes a record 11 women in its 25-member team.

In this new cabinet Yvette Cooper has been given the responsibility of Home Secretary, John Healy has been appointed as Defense Minister and David Lammy as Foreign Secretary.

Health Minister Wes Streeting, Justice Minister Shabana Mahmood, Education Minister Bridget Phillipson and Energy Minister Ed Miliband.

On Friday, July 5, power changed hands in Britain. The ruling Conservative Party lost the election after 14 years from the Labor Party. India-born Rishi Sunak resigned as Prime Minister hours later, and Labor Party’s 61-year-old Keir Starmer became the country’s 58th Prime Minister.

New UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer gave his first speech in Downing Street on Friday. Starmer pledged to secure Britain’s borders, get the country’s health care system back on track, and meet the needs of schools and affordable housing.

He said that our country has brought about this change by voting decisively. Our country has made this change to bring politics back into public service, so that politics can do good.

However, he said changing the country is not as easy as flicking a switch. He said the world has become more unstable. He further said that now the work of change will start immediately, but it will take time.

New UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is focusing more on the aspects around which the country’s working-class families can build their lives.

“If I were to ask you now whether you think Britain would be better for your children, I know most of you would say no,” he said. So until you believe again that this country will be better for your children, my government will continue to fight.
