49 people, including 40 Indians, have died in a massive fire in a building in southern Kuwait, while more than 30 people are said to be injured in the incident. Most of the people died due to suffocation. Five of those who died were from Kerala.

A fire broke out in the kitchen of a six-storey building located in the Mangaf area of ​​Kuwait’s southern Ahmadi governorate early Wednesday, officials said. It took a lot of effort to control the fire. The government there has held Real Estate Honor responsible for the incident. More than 50 people have been hospitalized. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this incident.

The building housing the workers was completely destroyed by this terrible fire in Kuwait. Mostly Indian laborers lived in this building. In this case, 40 Indian laborers died in this fire.

The building in Kuwait where the fire broke out belongs to the NBTC group of Malayali businessman KG Abraham and about 160 people live in this building. The people who have died used to work in this company.

Officials of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait reached the spot and an emergency number has also been issued for people to get information about their people. India’s Foreign Minister S on social media platform X. Jaishankar wrote about this incident that he is deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait City. More than 40 people have reportedly died and more than 50 people have been admitted to hospital, deepest sympathies to the families of those who tragically lost their lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting at his residence on Kuwait fire, in which Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Pramod Kumar Mishra, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra and other senior officials were also present. PM Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh to the families of deceased Indian citizens from the Pradhan Mantri Rahat Kosh.
