Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Istanbul to discuss the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has now entered its third year. Meanwhile, the news is coming that the Muslim country Turkey is ready to host the peace summit for reconciliation between the two countries.
Turkey hosted cease-fire talks in the first weeks of the ongoing war between Kiev and Moscow, but they were unsuccessful.
According to the news agency Xinhua report, the Turkish President’s Office said on its website on Friday that the President of Turkey and the President of Ukraine discussed the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
According to the office of the President of Turkey, there was also talk about accelerating the pace of efforts for lasting peace in the region.
Notably, in July 2022, the United Nations and Turkey mediated between Russia and Ukraine to establish a maritime corridor for the export of grains and fertilizers from Ukrainian Black Sea ports.
The Black Sea grain deal between Kiev and Moscow was considered the most important diplomatic agreement ever made. Under which Ukrainian agricultural exports were allowed safe passage across the Black Sea. But Russia called it unfair. Now that Turkish President Erdogan has met with Ukrainian President Zelensky, it is believed that Turkey is lobbying hard for this agreement.
