San Francisco, Aug 10: Elon Musk’s Twitter faced a fine of $350,000 earlier this year. A fine has been imposed on the micro-blogging platform for refusing to comply with a search warrant related to the account of former US President Donald Trump.
The information comes from new court documents unearthed on Wednesday, The Verge reported.
As a part of a special investigation by The Justice Department, The warrant was issued.
In January 2020, Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained a search warrant for Donald Trump’s Twitter account to investigate Trump’s role in interfering with the transition of power after the election.
In January 2021, Twitter announced the permanent suspension of Trump’s account on the platform.
However, after purchasing the Twitter platform last year, Elon Musk restored Donald Trump’s account in November.
Twitter which goes by the name of X has been fined $350K for refusing to comply with an account search warrant and delayed response, which will have a huge impact on Elon Musk.
