Rehearsals were being held in Malaysia for a naval function to be held in May. Two Royal Malaysian Navy helicopters collided mid-air during the exercise, killing ten people. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in Malaysia’s Perak state. Both Malaysian Navy helicopters were practicing for the Royal Malaysian Navy Celebration.
These two helicopters were Fenech M502-6 and HOM M503-3. After the crash, one helicopter landed on the steps of the stadium, while the other landed in a swimming pool.
The Malaysian Navy issued a statement on the incident saying that the helicopters were practicing for a military parade to be held for the Navy’s 90th anniversary between May 3 and 5. The Navy has confirmed that ten people were killed in the incident.

In a brief statement, the Royal Malaysian Navy said the incident occurred at the Lumut Royal Malaysian Naval Base at 9.32am local time during a flypast rehearsal. The Malaysian Navy said all those killed were Navy crew members.
Local media reports indicate that at least 10 crew members were on board both helicopters and that the two helicopters collided and crashed, killing all on board.
According to the report of the news agency Xinhua, while seven personnel were on board one helicopter, three personnel were on board the other helicopter.
The statement further said that all the victims died on the spot and the bodies have been sent to Lumut Airbase Hospital for identification.
The public has been urged not to take videos and photographs of the victims.
