Washington (DC), January 24 (UITV) – Indian-origin entrepreneur and Republican leader Vivek Ramaswami has recently distanced himself from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). According to a report by Politico, the move was taken after pressure from Elon Musk, who had expressed his desire to remove Ramaswami from the Department of Government Efficiency in recent times. The report claimed that three people close to Musk told that the billionaire industrialist wanted to remove Ramaswami from the team.
This incident happened just hours after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th US President. Ramaswami announced just hours after Trump was sworn in as US President that he would not be the co-head of DOGE. Ramaswami’s behavior was troubling some Republican leaders in Trump’s circle and Musk had also expressed his intention to oust him. The incident marks a repeat of the infighting that took place during Trump’s first term, where similar controversies arose.
According to Politico’s report, Ramaswami’s comments angered Republican leaders. In particular, many Republican leaders disagreed with his remarks on H-1B visas. In December last year, Ramaswami criticized American culture, saying that tech companies hire foreign workers because the country ‘respects mediocrity more than excellence’. This statement angered many Republican leaders and they began to distance themselves from Ramaswami.
Meanwhile, according to the report, Ramaswami told his confidants on Saturday evening that he was actively involved in DOGE and that he was busy writing executive orders. However, a person familiar with the entire incident said that Ramaswami had done almost no work related to DOGE since early December. Thus, it is clear that there was no longer any major connection between him and DOGE.
The decision to remove Ramaswami from the team was taken due to disagreements expressed by Musk about him. A person close to DOGE said that Musk did not think it would be possible for Ramaswami to campaign for the Ohio governorship while working on DOGE. According to the report, Ramaswami plans to announce his candidacy for the Ohio governorship next week.
One of the three people familiar with Ramaswami’s departure told Politico that there could be an atmosphere of infighting in Trump’s administration once again. However, Trump transition spokesperson Anna Kelly praised Ramaswami and said that he played a key role in creating DOGE. Anna Kelly also said that due to Ramaswami’s plans to contest the governor’s election, he needs to stay out of DOGE.
After this development, it became clear that Ramaswami is now separated from DOGE and intends to move towards his political journey. The move could be a turning point in his gubernatorial campaign. These events highlight the complex relationship between political strategies and personal decisions, which could ultimately influence the political direction of the Indian-origin entrepreneur in the future.
