The Department of Urban Development and Energy is promoting the celebration of Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali festivals as the ‘Clean Festival, Healthy Festival’, emphasizing the mantra that “Cleanliness is Divine Devotion”. The objective of this campaign is to ensure cleanliness in all municipal corporation areas of the state during the festive season.
The department has issued instructions to all municipal officers and employees to increase the cleanliness of roads, streets, religious places, temples, monasteries, and areas around Durga Puja pandals. The government spokesperson has emphasized that all municipal bodies have been instructed to repair street lights to ensure the convenience and safety of devotees during the festivals.
Additionally, the instructions also include guaranteeing the uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water in all areas. Proper disposal of the prasad and garbage offered by the devotees should also be ensured. People should be discouraged from spreading Prasad and garbage, and dustbins should be strategically placed around places of worship.
The campaign also seeks the cooperation of public representatives in raising awareness about celebrating clean and healthy festivals. Citizens should be encouraged not to use plastic and efforts should be made to implement a complete ban on its use.
The spokesperson said that the Chief Minister has stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in roads, drains, and sewers. Additionally, officials are tasked with ensuring sanitation and distribution of medicines to control communicable diseases and mosquito-borne diseases to protect the public from these health risks.
