Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced multiple-citizenship legislation into parliament. President Zelensky said that he is submitting a draft law to the parliament, according to which multiple citizenship will be allowed in Ukraine.
“This law will allow all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants around the world to obtain Ukrainian citizenship,” the presidential press service reported. President Zelensky, in an address to the nation on Monday on Unity Day, said: Not for Russian citizens.
If this new law is recognized and adopted, all those who have left Ukraine will be able to immigrate to restore their Ukrainian citizenship, reports Xinhua news agency. .
Foreign volunteers fighting the war against Russia on behalf of Ukraine will also be able to obtain Ukrainian citizenship under this law.
Currently, the Ukrainian Constitution allows only single citizenship.
