On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emphasized that Karnataka’s land and Kannada language remain the top priorities for the state government. Speaking at the KPCC office, he highlighted the importance of unity, stating, “Many Marathi residents in Belagavi are originally from Karnataka. Our state’s land and language will always come first. Unity is crucial.”
Responding to inquiries regarding Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti’s request to the Maharashtra Government for an office in Belagavi, Shivakumar highlighted the government’s efforts in developing infrastructure for rural areas in Belagavi District. He pledged a significant project worth Rs 900 crore in the upcoming budget to ensure access to drinking water for rural Belagavi.
Regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Shivakumar mentioned that candidate selection is underway. He disclosed discussions with the Chief Minister and plans to consult with the AICC General Secretary. The final candidate list will be sent to the High Command after vetting by the Screening Committee.
On the topic of the High Court’s dissatisfaction over the slow progress in investigations related to 40 per cent commission allegations, Shivakumar stated that the investigation is entrusted to a committee, and it is their responsibility to carry it out diligently.
