Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has formally requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to relocate the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI), originally scheduled at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. This high-stakes fixture is crucial, as both teams are vying for the final playoff spot. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have already secured their places.
The primary concern prompting this request is the adverse weather forecast for Mumbai. The city is currently under a Yellow Alert for heavy rain, raising the possibility of the match being washed out. In the event of a no-result, both teams would receive one point each. This scenario would favor MI, who currently have 14 points, over DC’s 13, potentially jeopardizing Delhi’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
Jindal emphasized the need for consistency and fairness in the league’s scheduling decisions. He cited a precedent where the RCB vs SRH game was relocated due to similar weather issues. By requesting a venue change, Jindal aims to ensure that the outcome of this pivotal match is determined on the field, rather than being influenced by uncontrollable weather conditions.
