Despite leading Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a thrilling victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2025 Qualifier 2, captain Shreyas Iyer faces challenges ahead of the final.
In the high-stakes match, Iyer delivered a stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 87 off 41 balls, propelling PBKS to their second IPL final in franchise history.
However, Iyer was fined ₹24 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during the match. Additionally, each member of the playing XI, including the impact player, was fined ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever is lesser.
Moreover, Iyer’s frustration was evident when he expressed visible anger towards teammate Shashank Singh after a run-out incident during the chase.
As PBKS prepares to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final, Iyer’s leadership and performance will be crucial in securing the franchise’s maiden IPL title.
