The makers of the popular crime drama Mirzapur have officially announced the theatrical release of Mirzapur: The Movie, marking the franchise’s transition from the digital screen to cinemas. The film is set to release in theatres on September 4, 2026, generating strong excitement among fans who have closely followed the series since its debut on OTT platforms.
Produced by Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the film is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Gurmmeet Singh. The screenplay has been written by Puneet Krishna, who also served as the creator and writer of the original series. With the same creative team at the helm, the movie aims to retain the gritty tone and intense storytelling that made Mirzapur a cultural phenomenon.
Several key cast members are returning to reprise their iconic roles. Pankaj Tripathi will once again be seen as Kaleen Bhaiya, while Ali Fazal returns as Guddu Pandit. Divyenndu Sharma is also part of the film, reviving his much-loved character Munna Tripathi, alongside performances by Shweta Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Rajesh Tailang, and Sheeba Chadha.
