Mumbai will witness a 13-hour traffic restriction on the Western Express Highway on Tuesday in view of the high-profile meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. The curbs are part of elaborate security arrangements for the bilateral engagement and related events being held in the city.
According to the traffic advisory, heavy vehicles including trucks and trailers will not be allowed on the Western Express Highway from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restriction applies to both northbound and southbound lanes, particularly along the stretch between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka. While private cars and two-wheelers will still be permitted, commuters have been advised to expect congestion and possible slow movement during peak hours.
In addition to the highway restrictions, certain roads in south Mumbai are likely to face diversions and temporary closures due to VVIP movement and security drills. Areas around key event venues will have controlled access, and public transport routes may be modified for several hours.
Authorities have urged citizens to plan their travel in advance, use alternative routes where possible, and follow instructions issued by the traffic police. The temporary curbs are expected to ease once the official engagements between the Indian and French leaders conclude.
