Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the nationwide “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”, a 100-week campaign aimed at eliminating substance abuse among India’s youth and promoting a healthier, stronger generation. The initiative seeks to encourage young people to stay away from drugs and actively contribute to building a developed India.
Addressing the nation through video conferencing, the Prime Minister said that achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat depends on a generation that is physically fit, mentally strong, and free from addiction. He stressed that the campaign is not only for young people but also for families, educational institutions, and society as a whole.
Modi urged parents to maintain open communication with their children and seek professional help if they notice signs of addiction instead of hiding the problem due to social stigma. He also appealed to teachers, professors, and educational institutions to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyles among students.
The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, noting that security agencies have significantly increased operations against narcotics networks. He also encouraged the youth to become ambassadors of positive social change by spreading awareness and inspiring others to lead drug-free lives.
The campaign will run every Sunday over the next 100 weeks, with participation from schools, colleges, youth organizations, and local communities across the country. Millions of young people have already joined the movement by taking the Nasha Mukti Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to a healthier and addiction-free India.
