San Francisco, Dec 9: Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) recently began testing a new subscription model offering unlimited grocery delivery for Prime members in three US cities. The initiative, available in Denver, Sacramento, and Columbus, allows Prime members to enjoy unrestricted delivery on Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods orders over $35 for an additional monthly fee of $9.99, reports The Verge.
Customers of this service not only get the benefit of unlimited delivery, but also get the added benefit of unlimited 30-minute pick-up for orders of any size. Tony Hoggett, Amazon’s senior vice president of grocery stores worldwide, expressed the company’s commitment to continually enhancing the shopping experience: “We’re always experimenting with features to make shopping easier, faster, and more affordable, “And we look forward to hearing how members who take advantage of this offer respond.”
Currently, Prime members are subject to a $6.95 delivery fee for fresh orders between $50 and $100 and a $9.95 delivery fee for items priced under $50. It’s worth noting that Prime members previously enjoyed free Fresh delivery on orders over $35, until Amazon implemented a delivery fee for Fresh grocery orders under $150 in January. Reversing its decision in October, Amazon revised the free grocery delivery limit from $150 to $100.
In a strategic move announced in September, Amazon revealed plans to introduce ‘limited advertising’ in its Prime Video streaming service by 2024. The change is intended to allocate additional funds to the production of TV shows and films, indicating the company’s ongoing efforts to diversify. and enhance its entertainment offerings.
