Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kolkata on Wednesday on a two-day visit to West Bengal to inaugurate India’s first underwater metro route, among other projects worth ₹15,400 crore. India’s first underwater metro has been constructed in Kolkata, which was inaugurated by PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited West Bengal for the second time within five days. Several connectivity projects worth Rs 15,400 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit.
When Prime Minister Modi reached the Esplanade Metro station, people greeted him with slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Crowds of people gathered to see PM Modi. Prime Minister Modi was accepting the greetings of all the people present there by shaking hands.
India’s first underwater metro tunnel built in Kolkata was inaugurated by PM Modi on Wednesday, this tunnel is 16.6 km long. The underwater metro will run 32 km below the Hooghly river and will connect Howrah to Kolkata city.
After inaugurating the underwater metro, Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoyed the journey by sitting in the metro and during his journey he also interacted with many students and metro employees.

The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation, experts in underwater technology, conducted studies in more than 13 countries before starting the construction of this tunnel. After the study, the planning and designing of the underwater metro tunnel was prepared.
This metro tunnel is built at a depth equal to the height of an 11-storey building, which is the specialty of this tunnel. This metro station is the deepest metro station in the country. No metro station has been built in such depth before this.
