Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on an ambitious mission to propel India into a new era of development, termed ‘Viksit Bharat’. Over the span of just 14 days this month, he has dedicated a series of groundbreaking projects totaling a staggering sum of at least Rs 8.25 lakh crore. This rapid pace of infrastructural development sets a monumental record and underscores the government’s commitment to building world-class infrastructure across various sectors.
Remarkably, in the initial 75 days of 2024, projects valued at over Rs 11 lakh crore have been either inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid, with an additional Rs 7 lakh crore worth of projects unveiled in the past 10-12 days alone. Prime Minister Modi highlighted this extraordinary progress earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister virtually initiated the foundation stone laying ceremonies for three semiconductor projects worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore. Remarkably, these projects commenced just 15 days after receiving approval from the Union Cabinet, showcasing efficient decision-making and execution.
This cumulative effort brings the total cost of development projects announced by Prime Minister Modi to approximately Rs 8.25 lakh crore in just a fortnight.
Commencing on March 1, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated multiple development projects across diverse sectors in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, with a combined worth of Rs 35,700 crores. These projects spanned fertilizer, rail, power, and coal sectors, promising significant advancements for the region.
Simultaneously, in Arambagh, Hooghly, West Bengal, he laid the foundation stones for projects valued at Rs 7,200 crore, covering crucial areas such as rail, ports, oil pipeline, LPG supply, and wastewater treatment.
Continuing this momentum on March 2, the Prime Minister initiated projects worth Rs 15,000 crore in Krishnanagar, West Bengal, focusing on power, rail, and road infrastructure, furthering the state’s development agenda.
Subsequently, in Aurangabad, Bihar, on the same day, he laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 21,400 crore, including initiatives in road, railway, and the ‘Namami Gange’ project, among others.
The pace of development remained relentless as Prime Minister Modi inaugurated projects worth over Rs 56,000 crores in Adilabad, Telangana, on March 4, focusing on power, rail, and road sectors.
This fervor continued as he dedicated projects exceeding Rs 6,800 crore in Sangareddy, Telangana, the following day, covering vital areas like road, rail, petroleum, aviation, and natural gas.
Further underscoring the commitment to nationwide development, Prime Minister Modi announced projects worth over Rs 19,600 crore in Chandikhole, Odisha, on March 5, encompassing oil & gas, railways, roads, transport & highways, and atomic energy sectors.
March 6 witnessed the inauguration and foundation stone laying for connectivity projects worth Rs 15,400 crore in Kolkata, focusing on urban mobility, including Metro Rail and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
The pace persisted with Prime Minister Modi initiating projects valued at more than Rs 17,500 crore in Jorhat, Assam, on March 9, covering health, oil and gas, rail, and housing sectors.
Continuing this streak, he laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 34,000 crore in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, on March 10, marking a significant milestone in the region’s development trajectory.
On March 11, Prime Minister Modi initiated 112 National Highway projects across the country, collectively worth about Rs 1 lakh crore, in Gurugram, Haryana, emphasizing the importance of modern connectivity.
Closing in on the 12th of March, he laid the foundation stone for various projects exceeding Rs 1,06,000 crore at the Dedicated Freight Corridor’s Operation Control Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, signaling a significant boost to the nation’s freight infrastructure.
Furthermore, in a strategic move to bolster India’s semiconductor capabilities, Prime Minister Modi initiated the foundation stone laying for three semiconductor projects valued at about Rs 1.25 lakh crore via video conferencing. These projects, including the Semiconductor fabrication facility at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat, and Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities at Morigaon, Assam, and Sanand, Gujarat, hold immense promise for India’s technological advancement.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated that these relentless efforts underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of ‘Viksit Bharat’, as the nation strides towards a brighter future.
