The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the State Bank of India for not disclosing the bond numbers in the electoral bond case. The Supreme Court issued a notice to the State Bank of India asking why the bank has not given the details of the unique code number and why the bank is not releasing the complete data. SBI has been ordered by the court to disclose the bond number and asked to provide the data kept in a sealed cover for uploading to the Election Commission.
A constitution bench headed by CJI Chandrachud from State Bank of India said during the hearing of the matter that we had given a clear direction to provide full details related to electoral bonds. But SBI has not given the unique number information.
SBI has been given time till March 18 to share the unique number information. The Election Commission has released 2 lists containing the names of the bond buyers and the names of the parties paying the bond amount.
SBI was directed by the court to share complete details of the parties who bought the bonds and received them along with the unique ID. Unique ID is the unique number of each bond. By which one can easily find out which party has been donated by which company or person. All information of donors and donors will be available at one place.
The court said it is necessary to upload the data to the Election Commission.
The next hearing in the case will be held on Monday, March 18.
The Election Commission has donated more than 12 thousand crore rupees to political parties through election bonds since 2019 on the orders of the Supreme Court.
All the data provided by SBI was made public by the Election Commission on its website on Thursday.
Earlier, the electoral bond scheme was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
