Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and actor-influencer Akriti Agarwal have reconciled weeks after announcing that they had called off their engagement. Akriti confirmed their reunion through a social media post, admitting that the opinions of people close to her had influenced her earlier decision to end the relationship.
In a statement titled “A Personal Clarification”, Akriti explained that she had allowed others’ opinions to shape her perception of Shaw and their relationship. She acknowledged that she had made the decision without having the honest conversation the couple deserved.
“When I called off our engagement, I let the opinions of people close to me, who seemed to know our relationship better than we did, influence how I saw my fiancé and our relationship,” she wrote, adding that she felt she had been “misguided”.
Akriti also took responsibility for her decision and the hurt it caused. She said the two had since spoken openly, understood each other and decided to give their relationship another chance. Shaw shared the same post on social media, signalling his support for their decision.
From Engagement to Separation
Shaw and Akriti announced their engagement on March 8, 2026, sharing the news with their followers on social media. However, on September 17, Akriti announced that they had mutually decided to part ways because of differences in their future goals and circumstances.
At the time, she said that although they cared for each other, they had decided to go their separate ways. She also requested privacy and urged people not to speculate about the reasons behind their decision.
Their announcement attracted considerable attention, particularly given earlier social media posts that had sparked speculation about difficulties in their relationship. Akriti had previously clarified that some of her cryptic remarks had been misunderstood and that people should not draw conclusions without context.
‘Together, We Are Enough for Each Other’
In her latest statement, Akriti emphasised that their future would be guided by their own understanding, trust and love rather than outside opinions. She asked the public to respect their decision as they begin a new chapter together.
The reconciliation marks a change in the couple’s relationship status less than a month after their separation announcement. Neither has announced a new wedding date, and their immediate plans remain unclear.
Prithvi Shaw Focuses on Cricket
Meanwhile, Shaw continues to pursue his cricketing career. The right-handed batter rose to prominence after captaining India to the ICC Under-19 World Cup title in 2018 and subsequently represented the senior Indian team.
The latest development in his personal life comes as he continues to work towards strengthening his position in domestic cricket. For now, the couple have indicated that they intend to move forward together, asking fans and the media to respect their privacy.
