Mumbai, January 15 (UITV)- Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited film ‘Emergency’ is finally ready to release in theaters after being postponed several times. The film ‘Emergency’, which is scheduled to release in theaters on January 17, has suffered a major setback 2 days before its release, as the film has been banned in Bangladesh.
There are many reasons behind the ban of the film in Bangladesh, which the film has faced. One of those reasons is related to the political nature of the film and some of its scenes. The film ‘Emergency’ shows the assassination of Bangladesh’s first president and freedom fighter Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is revered in Bangladesh as the “Father of Bangladesh” and his assassination is a sensitive issue in Bangladesh’s history. One of the main reasons for banning this film in Bangladesh is also believed to be the showing of this part of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s life in the film.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s contribution was important in the partition of Pakistan and Bangladesh, which led to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The way these historical events have been presented in this film can be sensitive to the Bangladesh government and the public, so it has been decided to release it in Bangladesh.
Many problems before the release of the film have also been in the news. ‘Emergency’ was earlier scheduled to be released on 14 June 2024, but it was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections. After this, the film was fixed for 6 September 2024, but the censor board refused to give it a certificate. Due to this, the producer and director of the film Kangana Ranaut had to approach the court. Kangana had also filed a petition in the High Court, after which the censor board approved the film after some changes. After this Kangana announced that the film will be released in theaters on 17 January 2025.
Actress Kangana Ranaut is playing the role of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi in the film ‘Emergency’. Kangana is not only the lead actor of this film, she has also directed this film. Apart from Kangana, major stars like Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, late Satish Kaushik will also be seen in important roles in the film. During the promotion of the film, Kangana had said that ‘Emergency’ is based on an important and controversial time in Indian politics and it will make the audience aware of a new layer of Indian history.
The film depicts the period of Indian politics when Indira Gandhi declared emergency. The film depicts the events from 1975 to 1977, which includes the events of the emergency imposed in the country under the leadership of Indira Gandhi. The film also gave rise to a lot of controversies, as it is based on a political subject and shows some such events which are still a topic of discussion among the people.
This Kangana Ranaut film not only reflects Indian politics and history, but it is also an important film directed by Kangana, which has high expectations from her fans and the film industry. Although the film’s ban in Bangladesh has affected its international reach, the expectations of its audience in India remain intact. There may be more controversies about the film before its theatrical release on January 17, but it will definitely prove to be an important film that brings alive an important chapter of Indian politics.
