Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has addressed the controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from KD: The Devil, responding to criticism over its alleged vulgarity. In a candid video message, she clarified her role in the project and revealed she had no involvement in the controversial Hindi adaptation.
Nora explained that she had filmed the track nearly three years ago in Kannada and agreed to it as part of a major film featuring Sanjay Dutt. At the time, she believed the song was a recreation inspired by the classic Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hoon Main and saw nothing objectionable in it.
However, she emphasized that she does not understand Kannada and relied on the team’s interpretation during filming. According to her, the issue arose later when the song was dubbed into Hindi with altered lyrics—changes that were made without her knowledge or approval.
She also revealed that concerns surfaced during the song’s launch event itself. Nora noticed the use of unflattering visuals and even AI-generated images featuring her and Sanjay Dutt, which left her upset. Despite her discomfort, she chose to remain composed publicly.
After watching the Hindi version, Nora said she anticipated backlash and immediately raised objections with the director. She stated that she distanced herself from the project and consciously avoided promoting the song, citing concerns about her public image and reputation.
Reflecting on the situation, Nora highlighted the limited control artists sometimes have over final outputs, especially across different film industries. She added that while she has generally received respect in Bollywood, not all industries give equal weight to an artist’s input.
She concluded by acknowledging that the public backlash played a key role in prompting action from the makers, expressing gratitude that the issue was eventually addressed.
