Los Angeles, Dec 12: The Golden Globe Awards nominations have been unveiled, with Margot Robbie’s “Barbie” and Cillian Murphy’s “Oppenheimer” leading the way with nine and eight nominations respectively. Other notable films including “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Poor Things” also received seven nominations each.
In the competitive acting categories, nominees include famous names like Emma Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. On the television front, the acclaimed series “Succession” has bagged the Best TV Drama Series category with a total of nine nominations.
The South Korean film “Past Lives” emerged as the most nominated non-English language film, receiving a total of five nominations.
The Margot Robbie-starrer “Barbie” earned nine nominations, with recognition for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Margot Robbie), Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Gosling), and Best Director (Greta Gerwig). Additionally, three original songs from the film performed by Dua Lipa, Ryan Gosling, and Billie Eilish also received nods.
Cillian Murphy’s “Oppenheimer” is nominated for cinematic and box office achievement as well as best original score. Emily Blunt for her supporting role in the film and Cillian Murphy for best actor in a drama are also among the nominees.
The Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 7, 2024, and will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Despite initial uncertainties surrounding the event due to controversies involving the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), an agreement has been reached with CBS to televise the ceremony. The HFPA has implemented changes to address concerns of corruption and lack of diversity within its membership. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
