After a long wait, the Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer Pathan trailer is finally here. From the looks of it, the Siddharth Anand-directed film is a treat for every SRK fan, who has been waiting since 2018 for him to charm us in Rupali. Pathan is scheduled to release in theaters on January 25.
Dimple Kapadia’s voiceover narration in the trailer’s opening scene describes a private terrorist organization’s goal against India, which is being led by John Abraham. In order to defeat him, Pathaan must put an end to his “vanvaas” (exile). At this point, Shah Rukh makes an appearance as Pathaan and delivers some challenging lines, such as “Party pathaan ke ghar rakhoge toh mehmaannawazi ke liye Pathaan toh aayega, aur pathaake bhi layega.” The terrible thing is that this is the only dialogue in which we get to see SRK’s swag. Rest of the time, all we get are some cliched John and Deepika moments. Salman Khan is noticeably absent, and it appears that YRF will keep the details of his appearance a secret.
The movie’s action scenes feature VFX exactly like every other action scene in an action movie nowadays.
For both good and bad reasons, Pathaan has made a lot of commotion. People’s expectations were boosted by the teaser for the movie, which was unveiled in November of last year to celebrate Shah Rukh’s 57th birthday. But when the movie’s opening track, “Besharam Rang,” was released on December 12, it let loose a can of worms for the filmmakers. The crowd initially criticised the song’s unattractive choreography, and afterwards, it was embroiled in controversy over the colour of Deepika’s clothes. It has become so bad that there have been anti-film protests in several regions of the nation.
The actors and director of the movie have stayed silent about the controversy, although he spoke about it at the Kolkata International Film Festival. He stated, “Social media is frequently given by a certain driven narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self,” without specifically mentioning Pathaan. I’ve read that negativity raises social media usage and, hence, social media’s market worth. Such activities confine the common narrative, making it polarising and damaging. Speaking on how movies promote fraternity and amity, he continued, “No matter what, individuals like us will stay optimistic.”

Through his numerous “Ask SRK” sessions, Shah Rukh has also made sure that his followers continue to interact with him. Additionally, the actor has stated in a few recent interviews that he is convinced Pathaan will be a success. He has vowed that Pathaan is a “over-the-top” action movie, and when he viewed the trailer, he “whistled the loudest.”
Movie enthusiasts are captivated by John’s appearance in the movie as well as Shah Rukh. Siddharth had remarked in a statement about John’s appearance in the movie, “John Abraham is THE antagonist, THE villain of Pathaan. Additionally, I’ve always thought that the villain’s projection should be at least as large as the hero’s. The fight between them can only be exciting when the villain is large. And when SRK faces John, the combat is spectacular! We wanted to give John a really sleek avatar to showcase.
