A shocking incident of sexual harassment was reported from AGB Layout in Bengaluru after a young woman doctor was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified biker on Wednesday night. The incident occurred while the doctor was returning to her paying guest accommodation after completing her night shift at a private hospital.
According to police sources, the accused approached the woman on a two-wheeler and initiated a conversation under the guise of asking for directions. He then allegedly behaved in an inappropriate manner and touched her without consent. When the doctor raised her voice and sought help, the man fled the scene immediately on his bike.
The victim later approached the Soladevanahalli police station and filed a complaint detailing the incident. Based on her statement, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of a woman.
Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the accused. Local residents are also being questioned to gather additional information that could help trace the biker.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over women’s safety in Bengaluru, especially for those commuting alone during late hours. Police have assured swift action and urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
