Guwahati, Aug 21: on Monday in two separate incidents, Assam Police seized drugs worth Rs 5 crore and arrested five people.
The Assam Police said the seizures were made from two different locations in Guwahati’s Cachar district, near the borders with Manipur and Mizoram.
On Sunday evening police officials received a tip-off, and an operation was carried out on the Kulicharra-Idgah road in the Dholai area near the Manipur border.
a police officer said, that During checking on the highway, a drug substance suspected to be heroin was recovered from a vehicle. And the drugs were stashed inside soap boxes.
The total banned substance recovered was around 780 grams.
The names of the arrested criminals are Mehboob Alom Majumdar, Bachan Ali Seikh, Anam Uddin Talukdar, Abul Hussain Laskar, and Fayeh Ahmad Majumdar, the Assam Police official said.
