The Union Home Ministry has handed over the responsibility of investigating the Bengaluru cafe blast case to the NIA (National Investigation Agency). As soon as the NIA received instructions from the Union Home Ministry to investigate the case, it first registered an FIR in the case.
NIA officials will co-ordinate with the state police to initiate investigations into the Bengaluru cafe blast case. As the case has now been taken over by the NIA, all the documents and findings of the investigation conducted by the CCB, the special branch of the State Police of the state government, will have to be handed over to the NIA. Sources informed that all necessary documents and findings will be handed over to NIA by Tuesday.
NIA, RAW and NSG will visit the site to collect evidence in the Bengaluru Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast case.
Earlier, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said on Sunday that his government would hand over the responsibility of investigating the case to the NIA if necessary. The state government was accused by the BJP of negligence in the case and was demanding that the NIA be entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the case.
This bomb blast took place on March 1. At least 10 people, including hotel staff and customers, were injured in the low-intensity blast, including a woman in the ICU.
