The BJP on Tuesday entered into an alliance with the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. In Tamil Nadu, the BJP has allotted 10 Lok Sabha seats to the PMK under the terms of the alliance. The decision comes a day after the PMK joined the NDA and announced its intention to contest the parliamentary elections in the state.
On Tuesday, the PMK announced that it had reached a seat-sharing agreement with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). PMK will contest ten Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu. PMK founder Dr. S. Earlier the BJP wanted to have an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), but in the end it settled on an alliance with the PMK.
PMK’s hold is very strong in many northern districts of Tamil Nadu. It has at least 7 percent vote bank in the state. AIADMK with the founding leader of PMK Dr. S. Ramdas wanted to combine, but it was not possible.
