The BJP’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha election places significant emphasis on women’s empowerment, particularly by creating more job opportunities in sectors such as IT, healthcare, and education. A key target outlined in the manifesto is the creation of an additional 3 crore “Lakhpati Didis” in rural areas.
Building on the success of the Modi government’s scheme, which has empowered one crore rural women to achieve financial independence, the manifesto pledges to extend this initiative to reach three crore rural women if the BJP secures a third term in power.
The manifesto commits to equipping women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with the necessary skills and resources in vital service sectors like IT, healthcare, education, retail, and tourism. This aims to boost their income levels and integrate them with existing programs such as One District One Product (ODOP), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and various market access initiatives.
Furthermore, the manifesto promises to enhance infrastructure, including the establishment of working women’s hostels and daycare facilities near industrial and commercial hubs, facilitating greater female workforce participation.
In the realm of healthcare, the manifesto pledges to expand existing services focused on preventing and combating diseases such as anaemia, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and osteoporosis, with a particular focus on launching initiatives to eradicate cervical cancer.
Additionally, the manifesto highlights the enactment of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam by the Modi-led government, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring women’s representation in Parliament and state legislatures. The manifesto vows to systematically implement this legislation to empower women in the political arena.
