New Delhi, November 2: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today to give his statement on the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Sources said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was to be present at the Delhi office of the Central Investigation Agency at 11 am. He has written a letter to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) asking it to withdraw the summons. Chief Minister Kejriwal said this
Called the summons “politically motivated and illegal” and said it had been sent at the behest of the BJP. Kejriwal is going to campaign for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Madhya Pradesh. Due to not appearing before ED, ED can issue fresh summons against Kejriwal.
ED summons can be skipped by maximum of three times. After which ED can get non-bailable warrant. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) can also issue summons under PMLA or the stringent Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Meanwhile, to avoid arrest, Kejriwal has the option to request for bail as well as challenge the summons in court.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a two-page letter to the ED saying, “The summons that have been sent do not specify whether I am being summoned as the Chief Minister of Delhi or as an individual.” Has been or is being called as the national coordinator of AAP. “It seems like it is of a roaming nature or fishing nature.”
Accusing the Centre, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the Center wants to arrest Kejriwal as part of a conspiracy in a politically motivated case.
When the Supreme Court rejected the bail plea of Manish Sisodia in the money transaction case of Rs 338 crore, the ED’s case against AAP leaders got another chance.
The money earned from the Delhi Liquor Policy case is considered by investigators to be the proceeds of crime.
Responding to the letter written by Kejriwal to the ED, the BJP has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of being involved in corruption and said that the top leaders of the party should answer all the questions asked by the court and investigating agencies. Are going.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, “Whatever Arvind Kejriwal is claiming about the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons that it is ‘politically motivated and illegal’. Congress has also accused Kejriwal government of corruption. The Supreme Court has also rejected the bail plea of Manish Sisodia in the money transaction case of Rs 338 crore.
Regarding the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that in today’s time, ED is working without caring for the rule of law by summoning anyone without the supervision of the court. Even during the colonial period, police required a warrant to search people. Because it was believed that if the police raided without a court warrant, it would be against the law and would not be within the law but would turn into bullying. But today ED is working without the warrant of the court. AAP MLA Shri Bhardwaj said in a video statement from Greater Kailash in South Delhi that ED officials decide whose house to raid and when.
He further said that many such reports have come out in which names of BJP leaders have been accused of corruption, so when will ED raid the houses of those BJP leaders?
Many top AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, have been accused of corruption in preparing the new liquor sale policy. Which was canceled in July 2022 by the Chief Secretary of Delhi after flagging alleged rule violations.
After this report, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into this case.
If Kejriwal is arrested in the liquor policy case, he will be the third senior AAP leader after Delhi ministers Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia to be arrested in this case.
