New Delhi, December 1: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to meet ‘rat-hole miners’ at his residence this Friday to acknowledge their vital role in the successful rescue operation of 41 workers.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the meeting with the miners is scheduled to be held in the evening at Kejriwal’s residence. Notably, these miners, integral to the rescue operations in the Uttarkashi collapsed tunnel, also work with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
Rat-hole miners played a key role in the challenging rescue operation that ultimately led to the rescue of 41 workers on Tuesday night. The rescue effort lasted for 16 days and involved coordinated action by scientists, international experts, multiple agencies including NDRF, SDRF and BRO.
These miners displayed their expertise and dedication as they dug out the debris of the collapsed tunnel section on Monday. Relief and rescue operations entered their 16th day on Tuesday, reflecting a concerted effort to tackle the crisis.
The incident came to light on November 12 when an under-construction tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand collapsed, trapping 41 workers and triggering a complex and challenging rescue operation.
