Karnataka’s traffic police department on Thursday decided to reduce outstanding traffic infraction fees by 50%, which is excellent news for commuters in the state. Residents who have unpaid traffic fines can now make a single payment for half the cost after the discount. The deal is valid till February 11, 2023.

The state issued an order in this respect due to a decision made at a meeting on January 27 that was presided over by Justice B Veerappa, executive chairman of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority. To guarantee that everyone has access to justice, the meeting agreed to request that the transportation department act promptly and report on compliance.
A senior IPS officer claims that approximately 4.2 lakh traffic challan cases were resolved without going to court during a Lok Adalat held in November of last year, and fines totaling RS 23 crore were also collected. The state is owed over RS 530 crore from traffic infractions. Of this, Bengaluru city is still owing RS 500 crore.
While those outside of Bengaluru can pay their fines through KarnatakaOne centers or the closest police stations, individuals in Bengaluru can visit their local traffic police stations or the Bengaluru traffic police website.
Many users are complaining the Bengaluru traffic’s official website is down for many hours and they are unable to pay the traffic violation fine.
