New Delhi, October 9: Today the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule of assembly elections in the coming weeks in five states. The schedule of assembly elections to be held in the states of Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana has been announced. Elections will start in Chhattisgarh and Mizoram on November 7. In two phases Voting will be held in Chhattisgarh. The first phase of voting will be held on November 7 and the second phase of voting will be held on November 17. On 17th November Voting will be held in Madhya Pradesh. Voting will be held in Rajasthan on 23rd November and in Telangana on 30th November. The counting of votes in all the states will take place on December 3.
Meanwhile, Congress Working Committee (CWC) members called a meeting today to discuss the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. Congress has not yet announced its candidates in these states. Congress has promised the people of Madhya Pradesh and Telangana that if their government comes to power, it will provide free facilities like electricity, public transport, etc. to the people there.
Following the footsteps of Bihar, while Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced a caste survey in Rajasthan, Priyanka Gandhi has also announced to conduct of a caste survey in Chhattisgarh. Priyanka Gandhi has announced that if the Congress government comes to power in Chhattisgarh, a caste survey will be conducted there.
Regarding the upcoming elections, Madhya Pradesh Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has said that she will not contest the elections. Due to his announcement, Jyotiraditya Scindia is expected to contest the elections from his Shivpuri seat. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is the nephew of Madhya Pradesh Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia. Yashodhara Raje Scindia while addressing a gathering in Shivpuri said that time has passed and now the time has come for the new generation to come forward.
