The Indian Navy has seized 3,300 kg of drugs from a sailing boat in a special operation. The seized drugs are said to be one of the largest consignments. On Wednesday, officials said that a suspicious sailing boat (dhow) was intercepted in the sea by the Indian Navy in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau, in which 3,300 kg of contraband was being carried.
Of the 3,300 kg of contraband, there was 25 kg of morphine, 158 kg of methamphetamine and 3,089 kg of hashish. This is the largest consignment of drugs being seized at present.
Regarding this joint operation, the Indian Navy said that on Tuesday, the Indian Navy and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized about 3,300 kg of drugs from a ship near Porbandar, Gujarat.
The Indian Navy on Tuesday intercepted a small ship and recovered 25 kg of morphine, 158 kg of methamphetamine and over 3089 kg of hashish from that ship. Five crew members of the ship, who were Pakistani nationals, have been arrested.
While officials have not revealed anything about the total value of the drugs seized so far, news agency PTI put the price of one kilogram of hashish in the international markets at ₹7 crore.
The ship, deployed on a mission to intercept the Dow suspected to be used in smuggling, was diverted based on inputs from the P8I aircraft on surveillance mission.
The contraband seized by the Indian Navy in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau as well as the captured boat and crew were handed over to the law enforcement agencies at the Indian port.
