New Delhi, November 14: Congress leaders including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi paid homage to the 134th birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Rahul Gandhi had said on this issue that today Mother India needs the currency of ‘jewels of Hindi’.
This morning at Shanti Van, many other Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Ajay Maken, Manickam Tagore and Venugopal remembered Nehru ji by paying floral tributes on his birth anniversary.

The Congress leader further said, “It has been possible to face many challenges because of Nehru ji’s progressive ideas. Which has taken India forward and strengthened it in every field. It is because of his progressive ideas that India’s economic, social and political development has progressed. Pandit Nehru has always kept the country first. There has been no discrimination of any kind and people have always been encouraged to remain united.”
On the 134th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Rahul Gandhi also paid his tribute and shared a post on Twitter saying, “Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is an embodiment of freedom, progress, justice. Mother India needs the values of ‘Jawahar of Hind’ like an ideology in every heart.
It is noteworthy that Nehru’s birthday (14 November) is celebrated as ‘Children’s Day’.
