The Kochi police have postponed the second round of interrogation for Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko in connection with a narcotics case. Initially scheduled for Monday, the questioning was deferred as the police await forensic test results and further evidence before proceeding.
Shine Tom Chacko was arrested and released on bail after allegedly fleeing from a hotel during a narcotics raid. He faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, including consumption of narcotic drugs, abetment, and destruction of evidence.
The actor has denied using narcotics on the day of the raid but admitted to past drug use. The police have expressed skepticism about his explanation for fleeing the scene, citing inconsistencies in his account.
A meeting led by Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya is expected to determine the next steps in the investigation.
Meanwhile, Shine Tom Chacko is reportedly considering legal action to quash the FIR against him, pending the results of the forensic examinations.
