Aug 13 – The Maharashtra Congress has planned a series of activities to capitalise on popular goodwill ahead of the next civic, parliament, and state assembly elections, beginning with a large ‘Lok Samvad’ padayatra over the next few months.
According to state party President Nana F. Patole, the starting point will be a major felicitation celebration held for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Mumbai on the fringes of the third I.N.D.I.A. conference on Aug. 31 to commemorate his return as MP.
“We’ve organised a massive welcome for Gandhi… “A welcome on all roads or streets with a large number of party activists present, and a magnificent felicitation at the party state headquarters, Tilak Bhavan in Dadar West,” Patole told IANS in a freewheeling interview.
“A clear message has emerged that Rahul Gandhi has fearlessly and unflinchingly exposed the affairs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP government, and that is why they hatched a conspiracy against him,” Patole declared.
The felicitation would mark the start of the ‘Lok Samvad’ series of padayatras across the state from September 3 to 17, connecting lakhs of workers and people from all walks of life.
