Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at his palace in Doha and both also discussed many issues.
An official said that Prime Minister Modi was given a formal welcome on his arrival at the Amiri Palace. After this, both sides held delegation level talks. Issues like space cooperation, economic cooperation, energy partnership, investment, urban infrastructure, cultural bonds, people-to-people relations etc. were discussed between the two sides.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues.
Prime Minister Modi thanked Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for taking care of the over eight lakh strong Indian community in Qatar and conveyed India’s commitment to further expand and deepen bilateral cooperation with Qatar.
PM Modi has also invited the Amir to visit India soon.
Sheikh Tamim echoed Prime Minister Modi’s sentiments and lauded India for its role as a valued partner in the Gulf region.
The official said the vibrant Indian community was appreciated for its contribution to the development of Qatar and also appreciated its enthusiastic participation in various international events held in the Gulf country.
After the meeting, lunch was organized in the honor of Prime Minister Modi at Amiri Palace.
Prime Minister Modi also met Sheikh Tamim’s father and former Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and congratulated him for his visionary leadership that has paved the way for Qatar’s development over the past decades. The two leaders discussed India-Qatar relations.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the insightful comments made by Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on regional and global developments.
The former Amir reaffirmed the unbreakable bond between India and Qatar, which is a symbol of mutual cooperation and mutual trust.
He also appreciated the bilateral partnership and the role played by the Indian community in promoting the development of Qatar, the official said.
