On February 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted more than 2,000 projects worth ₹41,000 crore to the Railways under the ‘Amrit Bharat Yojana’, which includes redevelopment of 553 railway stations. Along with this, to improve the facilities, development of city center and rooftop plaza at the station are also included. During the inauguration and foundation stone laying of railway infrastructure projects, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated some projects to the nation.
Through video conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’. These stations located in 27 states and union territories will be redeveloped at a cost of more than Rs 19,000 crore. Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of about 1500 road overbridges and underbridges in 24 states. This includes 33 railway stations and 105 bridges in Madhya Pradesh, 21 railway stations and 108 bridges in Rajasthan, 33 railway stations and 72 bridges in Bihar.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today’s program is a symbol of the new work culture of the new India. Whatever work India is doing today, it is doing it at an unprecedented pace. Today’s India has started dreaming big instead of small dreams and is working day and night to fulfill those dreams. This is the resolution of the newly developed India.
Railways have constructed Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Underpasses (RUBs) to prevent accidents at the crossings. According to information received from the ministry, 92 Road Over Bridges (ROB) and Underpasses (RUB) are going to be built in North India, out of which 1 in Himachal Pradesh, 1 in Jammu and Kashmir, 4 in Delhi, 13 in Punjab, 17 in Haryana. ,56 are included in Uttar Pradesh. Their number is 2 in Moradabad, 7 in Ambala, 10 in Firozpur, 30 in Delhi and 43 in Lucknow division.
Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was launched on 6 August 2023, under which 1300 railway stations across the country will be modernized. Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, various facilities for the stations like waiting rooms, cafeteria, retail facilities etc. are to be increased by making a master plan.
Many facilities are also being developed at the stations for the disabled. 2 crore passengers travel through Indian Railways every day across the country and 800 crore passengers annually. Apart from this, goods worth billions of rupees are also transported through railways.
