Bengaluru, Nov 1: Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya utilized a social media platform to share crucial updates about the forthcoming commencement of services on Namma Metro’s Yellow Line, which is expected to begin next year. He highlighted two primary obstacles that could potentially hinder the initiation of Yellow Line services by the February 2024 deadline: the availability of rolling stocks and the delay in delivering the Train Control Management System (TCMS) Software. However, Surya conveyed that discussions with stakeholders have led to solutions for both issues.
Following discussions, CRRC has agreed to supply two trains before January, and Melco has committed to providing the beta version of the TCMS software by January 2024.
Surya expressed his earlier skepticism about the feasibility of meeting the February 2024 deadline for resolving these challenges and launching the Yellow Line, as suggested by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials. He mentioned engaging with various stakeholders, including CRRC, Titagarh Rail Systems, and BMRCL, to address these concerns.

Amid these discussions, CRRC pledged to deliver two trains before January. Surya mentioned that a senior BMRCL team, led by Mr. Dhoke, visited Beijing and found the meetings to be highly productive. He also personally visited the Titagarh Rail Systems factory in Kolkata to oversee the production preparations for rolling stock and held detailed discussions with the leadership team and CRRC representatives. Additionally, he highlighted issues regarding customs, visas, and other challenges to Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, via social media.
The team at Titagarh assured full commitment to ensuring timely delivery of the rolling stock. Surya’s active engagement with various stakeholders and personal visits aimed to ensure that the impending challenges are addressed, assuring the timely launch of the Yellow Line services.
