Ayodhya, October 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. This important program was formally given to him during the invitation by the members of the temple trust in Delhi. Wednesday.
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust General Secretary Champat Rai has officially confirmed the installation of the idol of Lord Ram in the ‘Garbhagriha’ (sanctum sanctorum) of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh on January 22, 2024. It is an important occasion as the idol of Lord Rama will get its permanent place within the temple.
Notably, the invitation to Prime Minister Modi comes soon after Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat announced the installation of the idol of Lord Ram in the Ayodhya temple on the same date. Bhagwat has also urged people to organize programs in temples across the country to commemorate this historic event.
In anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit to Ayodhya, some Muslim leaders have also requested him to lay the foundation stone of the new Babri Masjid. The Supreme Court’s 2019 landmark judgment in the Ayodhya land dispute mandated the construction of Ram Temple on the disputed 2.77-acre site, while also allotting Muslims an alternative 5-acre plot in Dhannipur for the construction of the Babri Masjid.

While ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra’ was established for the construction of the temple, ‘Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation’ was formed to oversee the construction of the mosque. Iqbal Ansari, one of the key petitioners in the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir dispute, has expressed disappointment over the delay in the construction of the mosque and demanded changes in the trustees of the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation. Although the idol of Lord Ram is scheduled to be installed in January, the foundation stone of the mosque has not been laid yet.
Indian Muslim League president Mohammad Ismail Ansari said, “Our Prime Minister is coming to Ayodhya on an auspicious occasion. We request him to start work on the mosque also. It is our heartfelt wish.” Meanwhile, acting state president of the Indian Muslim League, Nazmul Hasan Ghani has appealed to Prime Minister Modi that Imam Ahmed Bukhari of Jama Masjid and Dr. Ilyasi, President of All India Imam Organization, should also attend the foundation stone laying ceremony.
