New Delhi, December 15: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia filed a review petition against the denial of bail in the alleged liquor policy scam case, which has been rejected by the Supreme Court.
In its order passed on Wednesday, Justices Sanjiv Khanna and S.V.N. Bhatti’s bench said, “We carefully studied the review petitions. We have also carefully studied the grounds in support of it. After study, we have decided that there is no case for any kind of review on the decision taken on 30.10.2023. Therefore, the review petition filed against the denial of bail is dismissed.”
The bench refused to conduct any oral hearing on the review petition and dismissed the review petition in the chamber by circulation.
Such review petitions which are filed under Article 137 of the Constitution are examined on very narrow grounds like obvious error on record, errors of law, etc.
On October 30, the apex court refused bail to senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on charges of corruption and money laundering. While giving its verdict in this case, the apex court said that even though there are many questions to which answers have not been found. But one aspect regarding the transfer of Rs 338 crore is tentatively established.
The Supreme Court has directed that Sisodia’s trial be completed within six to eight months. Also, the Supreme Court has said that if the case progresses slowly in the next three months, then a fresh bail application can be made by Manish Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by CBI on 26 February and by ED on 9 March.
