Hyderabad, Jan 30 (UITV)- The Telangana government is planning to finalise its new tourism policy by February 10. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took this decision during a review meeting on tourism development in the state on Wednesday. In the meeting, the Chief Minister stressed on promoting eco-tourism and temple tourism and made several key suggestions to develop tourism circuits in the state. He directed the officials to study the best tourism policies of other countries and states and prepare a new tourism policy for Telangana by February 10.
The Chief Minister said that the new policy should aim to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists to the state. He requested the officials to especially focus on eco-tourism and temple tourism. The Chief Minister stressed the need to prepare a joint action plan between the Revenue, Forest and Tourism departments to make the iconic “Sammakka-Saralamma” Jatara a major tourist attraction. To attract more tourists during the Jatara, the Chief Minister suggested that a tourism circuit connecting the nearby tourist areas and temples be developed.
The Chief Minister also ordered to consider plans to promote eco-tourism in areas like Adilabad, Warangal and Nagarjuna Sagar. He said that a detailed plan should be prepared to enhance the potential of eco-tourism in these areas. The Telangana government will study Singapore style eco-tourism policies to improve tourism infrastructure in the state, which can be effective in preserving the environment as well as improving the experience of tourists.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed the officials to make plans in view of the upcoming Godavari and Krishna Pushpakaram Mahaparvas so that devotees and tourists from across the country can be attracted. These events can be an important opportunity to promote tourism in the state and the Chief Minister urged to present the tourism areas of the state in an even better way during these events. He asked the officials to identify special areas to promote eco-tourism and develop them so that attractive and safe tourist destinations can be provided to the tourists.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister also directed to create a tourism circuit by connecting Sanjeevaiah Park, NTR Park and Indira Park located around Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. This circuit will provide a complete experience to the tourists, which will include natural beauty, historical sites and recreational opportunities. The Chief Minister believes that such a tourism circuit will increase the number of tourists in Hyderabad and will give significant economic benefits to the state.
Through the new tourism policy, Telangana is trying to further enhance its identity as a state. The Chief Minister emphasized that the development of tourism sector will not only help the state to attract more tourists but it will also become an important source of revenue for the state. Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary A. Shanti Kumari and other senior officials attended the meeting, who discussed the Chief Minister’s proposals and decided to take necessary steps to implement them.
The Chief Minister also said that the development of tourism in Telangana State can be a big opportunity, which will help in strengthening the economy of the state. Keeping this objective in mind, the state government is fully committed to implement the new tourism policy and all departments need to work together for its effective implementation. This policy will not only increase employment opportunities in the state, but will also increase the importance of the state’s tourist destinations at the global level.
